North West Surrey patients/residents are invited to take part in a consultation on substance misuse treatment services for detoxification services.

Led by Public Health, Surrey and Borders Partnership (SABP) and Catalyst, the consultation is designed to ensure that anyone in North West surrey who could potentially be affected by the changes being proposed has an opportunity to review them and contribute to their development.

Proposals for NWS include:

1) The closure of an in-patient drug and alcohol detox ward on the St Peter’s site in Chertsey

2) Outpatients for drug and alcohol services to be moved to Guildford and Farnham Road Hospital

The outlined plan for detoxification from 1 July 2018 is a clinically led solution taken by Integrated Substance Misuse Treatment Programme Board in order to offer a wider choice and improved options for detoxification, maintain an in-patient detoxification option for those with the most complex needs and mitigate both the budget pressures and ensure sustainability of community substance misuse treatment in Surrey.

The choice of location for ambulatory detoxification has currently been made within the existing substance misuse treatment estate resources and with a primary consideration to access for individuals in either the east or west of the county; other options are being reviewed and outputs from the consultation will feed into this process.

The consultation will run from Monday 19 March 2018 until midnight on Sunday 20 May and there is an online survey here and the opportunity to find out more at a number of face to face sessions.
